I am truly convinced Emily was sent here to entertain us. She is hilarious and keeps me wondering what will come out of her mouth next. Some of the things she says amaze me and I have no idea where they come from. Anyway, I love sharing my Emily stories. Here are a couple of recent ones:
Who did it?- There was a house on our road that caught fire and partially burned down. Emily must have overheard comments from Will and I about the house as we would pass it to and from town. One day when Emily and I were in the car on the way to town Emily asked me, "Mommy, where is that house or barn or somethin' that burned down?" I told her there was a house that burned down farther up the road. When we passed it I pointed it out to her. Then she said "Mommy, who did that?? WHO BURNED THAT HOUSE?" I said that I was not sure, but I did not think anyone did it, it just happened. Then she hung her head and with all seriousness a 2 year old can muster said, "I'm sorry Mommy, I did it". I said "You did what?" She said "I burned that house and I am very very sorry for that". I said Emily you did NOT burn that house down. She kept arguing...Yes I did Mommy and I am so sorry I did that. Then she went into detail (SCARY!) She said I took a little stick that had fire on it and I burned down the house. I kept telling her she did not, but she went on. "Who put the fire on the stick for me Mommy?" I told her no one did she was just making up stories. She said "I DID IT! I did it all by myself, I put the fire on the little stick and burned down the house. I am so so so sorry."
Well I can ASSURE you she didn't do it, but good grief I wish she did not have such a crazy imagination. And I sure hope she keeps these stories between us in the car!
One more chance mommy- Monday we decided to plant some flowers that Emily received for Easter. It is a little green house that starts the flowers indoors. So we spread the project out on the dinning room table and had lots of fun planting the seeds. When we were finished there were still some seeds in the envelope. Emily decided it would be fun to empty the envelope on the table and blow the seeds everywhere. So I helped clean up the mess...all except the seeds she blew across the table. I told Emily she would need to clean up that part of the mess. I went on to make lunch and take care of Kaylee. Emily kept protesting that she needed help and she didn't want to pick up all the seeds and she was too little...etc etc etc. I wasn't budging. I said "I know you can pick them up. You can get down after you pick them all up." A few minutes later I was in the girls room changing Kaylee's diaper and in comes Emily with her hands on her hips. She had her poker face on and said "Mama, you've got one more chance. You can either come help me pick up these seeds or I'm gonna spank your butt "(hmmm....wonder where she's heard that?). It was everything I could do not to crack up. Just looking at her standing there all serious probably thinking it was really going to work cracked me up. I said, excuse me (thinking she would realize what she said was not okay and she was about to get into trouble). She said "You heard me". I said. Emily I think you better go get in your chair right now. I guess my look is more intimidating than hers because she decided to go pick up the seeds. I must admit it was a good try.
Granny and God- Sunday a good friend of our families past away (we call her Granny). I was waiting for Emily to wake up from her nap to take some food over to the house for the family. When she woke up I was trying to hurry her and said "come on emily we need to hurry"...
Emily- where are we going?
Me- you know Daddy's friend Grant? We are going to take food to his Granny
Emily- oh is she sick?
Me- (I wasn't really sure how much to tell her...but I went ahead) well...actually she died today.
Emily- Is she with God?
Me- Yes! She is. (I'm thinking that went well, she understood)
Emily- (Very excited and putting on her shoes as fast as she can) Yea!! We are taking food to Granny and God!
